You can easily spend up to 2-3 hours exploring the garden. There are 5 loops in total to explore with hundreds of variety of plants. Be careful if you are tempted to touch the plants, they bite!
Come prepared for the heat with sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen. I recommend that you start at 7 am. They offer water stations and plenty of points you can rest along the way.
You can learn alot about the plants that are able to survive in the hot arrid temperature.

Was one of the highlights on our trip to Scottsdale. The only negative is holy cow is it hot out and there are a lot of options to cool down. The garden is set up with 4-5 little loop trails off the main trail and easily doable in an hour or two. The vending machines could have been more plentiful and perhaps an ice cream stand or something to help cool off. A few misters on the trail would be amazing but I can’t blame them for desert heat, just be prepared for it. Would definitely go back.

We loved this place. The people were friendly and helpful. This place is open enough that it can safely accommodate large crowds. Masks are required, which gives us peace of mind during this pandemic. Great place to visit. Visit in the early the morning to avoid the heat. Who thought that cacti and succulents could be so beautiful!

A magical location I hadn’t heard of in my twenty years in the valley! Saw a beautiful art show here and would definitely like to go back and experience more.

Went by myself very scared, lots of homeless around, not sure why this is supposed to be a birding area besides the center- which is closed. Lot of noise from the road nearby.

I loved the place overall. Well cared and maintained for. Lots to move around and explore. A few resting areas were also open. The only trouble is I wish it had a few more snack shops distributed over various trails than just be accumulated at a single spot towards the main section. Other than that, it was a very incredible place to relax with friends and family. It has also beautiful locations to party in for small events. The zoo has definitely been a place for me to visit at the very least once a year. Winter in July and the lights festival are two of the most awesome experiences in the zoo. Definitely recommend a visit. The gift shop also carries a lot of useful stuff in it. Just remember that sometimes, if you exit the gift shop, you may need to re-enter using zoo entrance and not the same way back from the shop. Lots of food and drink options are available for purchase in the central location inside the Zoo (just not much options for vegans and looks like it will probably be improved over time).

Compared to the Seattle Zoo in Washington, this Zoo is amazing! The price is great and there so much to see and do. We were there for 3 hours and didn’t get to see everything. The Seattle Zoo was the price of this Zoo’s individual membership and there likes 5 or more times the amount of animals too. Definitely recommend. Plus right next to the zoo is the Hole in the Rock and a Tomb of someone from down here. The food could have been better but that’s to be expected. They were also out of a lot of the foods but that’s won’t lower the star rating for me.

Zoo Lights were amazing. We {two adults} did the “drive your own car through the zoo* version instead of walking — it was like being a kid on a safari. We spent the entire drive with the car windows down, pointing and laughing at the clever (and often funny) light displays.
The zoo staff/volunteers were super friendly and exceptionally well organized. We were able to check-in and start our drive without leaving our vehicle. The driving route wound through the zoo and was easy to navigate.
There was so much to experience during the drive. There had to have been hundreds of different animal light displays! I can’t even imagine how long Zoo Lights took to setup.
Two thumbs up. We will definitely be back next year.

This hotel was everything I asked for!! Me and my boyfriend stayed here for just one night, we stayed in room 129 which is kind of isolated from the other rooms here. The AC works perfect, I can’t speak for the other rooms as there are other reviews here that state their ACs were broken but ours worked perfect. Sheets were of good quality, one of the sheets were a little rough. Front desk receptionist was super chill and nice!! He made our check in very easy and check out was a breeze. We didn’t have a chance to enter the pool but it looks gorgeous and I’m sure it would’ve felt great to get a swim in this 100 degree weather. Overall would stay again!! Provided we get the same room 😂😂

What a lovely little place! They have a huge birdcage in the interior yard, by the pool. Something like 200 parakeets in it.
Cocktail lounge and restaurant not open as of 8/09/21. Built in the 50’or 60’s, one of the surviving businesses of the Papago Plaza. (It, the plaza, was demolished and something new is being built). Reasonable rates, a bit dated decor. I liked it. Front desk helpful and friendly.

I wasn’t going to write a review but I am very upset about my experience yesterday. I called to speak with a woman who knew my father. My father had 5 birds from this place, and passed away last week. I live in Maryland, but made a promise to my dad to care for these birds! The woman put me on hold for ten min to come back and say I need approval from the woman who surrendered them! What?! So a stranger can adopt them but I have to have approval from someone who gave them up to keep my promise to my dad? I understand I would have had to pay for boarding until I arrived in Arizona, but I was more than willing to do so. My dad had a lot of trust in this place and I am so incredibly saddened and disappointed that this is the outcome.

Found a dove that needed help, drove over to Liberty and a young lady approached me b4 I got to the intake window (they were still closed). She identified herself and offered to take the birdie in immediately. She was very nice and obviously caring, but I can’t remember her name. She had really cool talons tattooed on her arm. Anyway, thank you and people, please slip them a few bucks….they offer a great service to the community!

They are so professional and caring, and they always give the right answer — when you bring an ailing bird, they know who to bring it to straight away. Liberty Wildlife is one of the best possible NPOs to come to for animal rescue, and they are very informative in their newsletters. If you plan on donating to someone in the Valley, pick these guys. They put it to great use with rescue and rehab/adaptation of various wildlife.

The team here are very caring. My daughter cared for a sick sparrow before realizing it would only survive by the attention this facility could offer. We have since seen videos and their website and she is so happy we found it.
I would recommend anyone to support this facility to the utmost.

Love this area, except for the homeless people it’s a nice place to explore and see wildlife. I’m capable of taking care of myself, but because of the riffraff, these areas aren’t being used by all.

Feeding the wildlife is pleasant and fun. We counted 13 turtles, a few fish, these ducks, finches, and of course pigeons. One thing I will suggest: bet mindful of wanderers. They tend to relieve themselves throughout the areas with high grasses and bushes leaving behind human waste and toilet paper. It’s disgusting and hazardous, not to mention. I will be reporting this issue to the right people. However, don’t allow yourself to miss out. Just stay on the with the parking and you’ll be fine. Enjoy!! 😊

Best feeders in Arizona. Best guarantee possible. Bring back one that broke and get new or they will fix it. Also very knowledgeable about birds. My go to place for info on birding…

Even though it was a bit of a drive from downtown (we don’t have a location in Phoenix) it was worth it. The guy managing the store seemed really knowledgeable in the different kinds of feeders and bird food. I hadn’t ever had feeders before so he did a quick run through of all the kinds and made suggestions for starter feed/dispenser. They had a good variety of products and the prices seemed reasonable. I loved that they had some MADE in USA products and they weren’t all from China. I have been trying to buy local/American made when I can.
