I loved the place overall. Well cared and maintained for. Lots to move around and explore. A few resting areas were also open. The only trouble is I wish it had a few more snack shops distributed over various trails than just be accumulated at a single spot towards the main section. Other than that, it was a very incredible place to relax with friends and family. It has also beautiful locations to party in for small events. The zoo has definitely been a place for me to visit at the very least once a year. Winter in July and the lights festival are two of the most awesome experiences in the zoo. Definitely recommend a visit. The gift shop also carries a lot of useful stuff in it. Just remember that sometimes, if you exit the gift shop, you may need to re-enter using zoo entrance and not the same way back from the shop. Lots of food and drink options are available for purchase in the central location inside the Zoo (just not much options for vegans and looks like it will probably be improved over time).

Compared to the Seattle Zoo in Washington, this Zoo is amazing! The price is great and there so much to see and do. We were there for 3 hours and didn’t get to see everything. The Seattle Zoo was the price of this Zoo’s individual membership and there likes 5 or more times the amount of animals too. Definitely recommend. Plus right next to the zoo is the Hole in the Rock and a Tomb of someone from down here. The food could have been better but that’s to be expected. They were also out of a lot of the foods but that’s won’t lower the star rating for me.

Zoo Lights were amazing. We {two adults} did the “drive your own car through the zoo* version instead of walking — it was like being a kid on a safari. We spent the entire drive with the car windows down, pointing and laughing at the clever (and often funny) light displays.
The zoo staff/volunteers were super friendly and exceptionally well organized. We were able to check-in and start our drive without leaving our vehicle. The driving route wound through the zoo and was easy to navigate.
There was so much to experience during the drive. There had to have been hundreds of different animal light displays! I can’t even imagine how long Zoo Lights took to setup.
Two thumbs up. We will definitely be back next year.

The most easily accessible and most scenic view point in the valley.
Clouds in a sunset make it better.
Wheelchair access! Easy peasy.
Bring a snack.

I definitely understand why we should pay taxes. This area of the park should be better off, but it seems a bit run-down and unkempt. It definitely needs better husbandry and I think some new plants would do well in that area. Otherwise, it just kind of looked like it was maintained by nature, not a human that can conform it to something robust and beautiful.

Was a cute lil area with a small pond filled with water lilies. The couple iron sculptures were great. Not much action from the hummingbirds while we strolled as we only saw a couple. The walking path is close to the parking lot but is not very lengthy. It is definitely a place you want to visit in the cool of the day early morning or late evening and for sure not in the midst of the heat of the summer in the greater Phoenix area.

One of my favorites places! Everything is great. Service is awesome. I love the orange french toast. The berry cake is super tasty. And of course the coffee! My favorite is the dirty Chai. And if you sit on the batio you can bring your fur babies.

Whatever you do, NEVER order coffee drinks with steamed milk. The staff doesn’t follow health code when steaming milk or cleaning the steam wands. Don’t risk getting sick and skip the steamed milk!

Great place to take your dogs for a little adventure and hiking along the trails or set out on your own. Take lots of water! Very peaceful. Lots of paved parking and picnic areas too. It’s a big enough place where you’ll have to go back a couple of times in order to see most of it. I’ve been back twice and I’m planning to return again and again.

Cool place to have a picnic. Trails are very easy as well. If you’re coming here in August, make sure to have a lot of water with you to stay cool. Parking spots are limited but when we got here, there were plenty of spots to park at. There are no bathrooms that I could find in this specific area so plan ahead. Excellent place to enjoy the view.

From the top of this unique rock with a hole, you indeed will find a fantastic panoramic view of the city and sunset. It’s safe to hike up and down a rock. Although the park entrance closes at 7 pm, you can stay put till late, yet be mindful of No lights here.
